so here is the finished baby quilt that my superhero mum made from one of my designs... now that is real love and craftmans-ship and patience all rolled into one.
It is a full page ad in Japanese magazine called Kinokuniya and was produced on behalf of Orchards special sales team. Thanks special sales team for using my cover illustration from picture book "Don't Dip your chips in your Drink Kate!"
all of this pegged up chaos and scruffy smudgey artwork has now been dismantled as i have left my lovely studio (sniff sniff) but now i get to work in my garden shed studio again (yey!) there are cats and squirrels and everything pottering about in the garden which is good (and slugs too sometimes unfortunately)
Everyone who went to the launch got to gobble up one of these yummy looking cakes. mmnn.... why didn't I go again? what a fool. one of those cakes had my name on it I am sure. here is Caryl Hart (the author of the book) reading the book. this HUGE poster with fabulous colour in cakes that the children at the launch made is now on display in the Sheffield Library.
You can see more photos of the party and other fun bits and bobs on Caryls blog
Show off Limelight Larry is the star of my new picture book which will be out next year .... He forced Orchard books to put him on the front of their Frankfurt Bookfair booklet. (He doesn't realise how lucky he is).
I hope he didn't make a nuisance of himself at the bookfair and that he made lots of friends. (fingers crossed!)
here is just some of the fun bits and bobs we did that day... we all coloured and snip snipped we read the book and talked about what makes us smile(gazing at clouds, chocolate cake, funny jokes and watching dogs run about) then i was starstruck and met the lovely Roger McGough(that made me smile by the way) he signed his new book for me, and I signed my book for him (crumbs... fancy that!) ... ah, what a nice day (and what a pink cardigan) i do hope that everyone else had a nice time, thanks for comming! what a BRILLIANT place the Polka Dot Theatre is. So much fun and creativity in one place. I must go there again soon.
I find a bird on every page! (This is only partially true, there are a lot of birds). Boris is a cat, he "leepy" (sleepy) He in a box. "We not want this cat!" NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!! Boris be sad. Mr. Marshmallow eat only fish! We ever not have a cat, he would eat "Oviler" (Oliver is Izze's fish). Then he find a lady! She sooo happy!
Izze loves the art, the collage style.
Vegan note: Mr. Marshmallow eats fish from The South Pole. Boris wishes he had fish, because he was hungry.
I think Izzes description of the story is the bees knees.
SO pleased you like my book Izze... Boris is very happy that he has found a friend like you!
oh look, on mine there seems to be losts of nice tissue paper textures i have made which i will use in my new Sunny McCloud book. but who's that lurking in the corner?... only me.... more about me later... shhhhh!
well, i am a childrens book writer and illustrator person.
i am only trying to get my act together and open myself an etsy shop innit.
